The content team has been busy scouring the Marketplace for their favorite maps released last month! This time around, our creative content critics Matthew “Moesh” Dryden, Oskar Thysell, and Andreas Thomasson have a lovely mix of culinary delights, fantastical creatures, and totems. Lots and lots of totems.

Our Marketplace Picks: October 2020
Our three favorite Marketplace highlights from the previous month!

I like a challenge as much as the next person, but not necessarily in the kitchen. I should probably branch out since my last dinner party ended with bouillabaisse-splattered walls and tear-stained cheeks. Thanks to this map, I can practice my skills on monsters before I invite Oskar and the gang over for dinner again!

Philosophers have long speculated on why evil exists. Nietzsche, Kant, all of those old stooges must be breakdancing in their graves now that Gross Food has come with the definite answer to this conundrum. Werewolves, the grim reaper, vampires – turns out all those monsters were just hungry, and we all know how we can get when we're operating on an empty stomach (modern science now has a term for this – “hangry”). Serve such delicacies as the “Cerebral Shake” and the “Arachno Omelette” among others to your starving clientele and maybe they'll be inspired to change their devious ways!
Oskar
Now that I know that the content team prefers more spiders in their eggs, I’m sure our next soiree will go much smoother. Craft unique recipes and make 24 different dishes using more than 50 ingredients. The map also includes 6 skins so that you can blend in with the crowd.
ADVANCED DRAGONS 2
by Pixelbiester

If you don’t want to cook for a beast, can I interest you in taming one? This map gives you the opportunity to hatch your very own dragon, raise it as your own, and then set off on an epic adventure together! But don’t take my word for it, let’s check in with our local herpetologist Andreas.

What better creatures are there if not dragons? You all know the saying, dragons are man's best friend. This gorgeous looking map lets you see your cute little dragon buddy grow up and become a fierce yet lovable creature as you embark on adventures. What makes this map great is that there's an adventure for everyone – explore the beautiful landscape, fight off evil orcs lurking inside a foggy volcano, or settle down atop a floating island.
Andreas
Exploration isn’t everything, Andreas! You can also customize and play with more than 20 types of dragons with their own abilities, opening up for thousands of variations! Is there such a thing as too many reptiles? Only time will tell.
Totems
by The Misfit Society

The third map in our round-up doesn’t feature monsters preparing to eat or dragons coming of age. Your only task is to put a shattered world back together again. Sounds easy enough. Let me just, wait, OK. Well. Who could have guessed an ancient totem would be so fragile. Moesh, can I get some help here?

This map hits all of my requirements for a great Minecraft map. The attention to detail in the implementation of music, crafting, and even the portal effects all work together to make a gold standard project. This reads to me like a love letter to Minecraft and the early days of map making. Inspiring work.
Moesh
Thank you, Moesh! Your dedication to cleaning up my mess inspires me. This survival minigame includes over a thousand totems to rebuild, so stop daydreaming to the original soundtrack and get to work!
Now all you have to do is decide you want to start by donning your chef’s hat, rounding up some dragons, or deciphering ancient blueprints. Find all of these maps and more in the Minecraft Marketplace!
