    IRL Crafting: DIYs Perfect for Parties

    We know it's hard to hear, but you can't play Minecraft all the time. Sometimes you have to sleep, and eat, and go outside. But that doesn't mean your non-Minecraft activities can't also have a little bit of Minecraft in them! This video, by Pick A Trick, contains ten Minecraft-flavoured DIY projects that you can do on your own or with friends and family to turn your whole life into Minecraft.

    Perhaps you'd like to make yourself a Steve head out of cardboard and paint, for an impressive Halloween costume (or just to wear around the house), complete with a diamond sword handbag? Bonus points for no sewing involved on that last one – it uses hot glue, which is still a little scary to use (I've burned myself on hot glue before, trust me, it's not fun) but at least it's easier than using a needle and thread!

    But I might have to get over my fear of sewing, because the wolf/dog pillow at the end of this video is very cool. As a bonus, you don't even need to give it any bones to have it in your house! And then no one has to ask questions like, "where did you get all the bones", and "why do you have so many bones", and "what do you mean, you defeated a skeleton", and other questions that you don't have to answer without a lawyer present!

    There are also a few ideas in here that would be perfect for a Minecraft-themed party, like how to make a creeper popcorn bucket, or combining papercrafts with LED candles to create a realistic, working version of a Minecraft torch. You can even apply the same principles to some more hard-wearing materials to make a permanent torch fixture in your bedroom, so it feels like you're sleeping in a cave – get your siblings to sit in your closet and make creeper hissing sounds for the full effect, obviously.

    You know, my birthday's coming up. Some might say I'm too old for a Minecraft party, but they'll eat their words when I make them all diamond pickaxe earrings as a party gift. And then maybe they'll play Minecraft with me.
