Minecraft National Park

Nature and sustainability have never been more important than it is now. A healthy eco-system, thriving wildlife, and fresh air are crucial as we humans are moving forward. 

To rally our next generation of planet protectors, Mojang Studios joined forces with over 50 creators and the Minecraft community to build the in-game Minecraft National Park map in 2024. This was the first time a map of this size was created to benefit a charity, The Nature Conservancy, which is an environmental organization that works to conserve lands and waters. 

The aim of the map was to educate players about environmental sustainability and the importance of animal crossings. In October of 2024, the map sale was launched, and in December, a National Park map Fundraising Stream was held, with all proceeds from the stream and net proceeds from map sales, along with an additional $100,000 donation from Mojang Studios, totaled a whopping $287,000 being donated to The Nature Conservancy.

A build challenge

Back in May of 2024, a build challenge was organized where the Minecraft community could submit their take on what should be the park’s main monument inside the Central Visiting Center. Following the theme of nature’s beauty and diversity plus including at least one mob or plant from Minecraft, anyone could participate! The selected monument was created by GuilleAnimations with their adorable, and wholesome axolotl build.
