The spring season is here and depending on where you are in the world that means different things – weather wise. Some of you are experiencing lots of light rain, others are basking in the sun, and some are putting their warm coats on. But no matter where you are, this seasonal gift guide will hopefully put a spring in your step and home! Whenever I give a gift, I try to find something that the giftee wouldn’t buy for themselves. This is somewhat of a conundrum as my favorite person to treat is none other than myself. But then I just put on a big hat and sunglasses as I ponder and thanks to the magic of this very clever disguise, I can step out of my own consciousness for a moment to consider – what do I want?

A Gift Guide for Spring
Minecraft gifts in all shapes and sizes!

I want to play games!
Some people can’t get enough of games, and who can blame them! While it’s important to give your eyes a break from your screen, you don’t need a break from the blocks. Thanks to the table-top game Builders & Biomes, you can play Minecraft with your friends and family from the comfort of a table. Or a floor, or any surface really. It’s up to you! There’s even an expansion, Farmer’s Market, which allows you to keep the fun going as long as you want or until someone flips the board over in frustration.
A game that will take much more effort to flip over is also known as a puzzle. In fact, it’s usually recommended that you flip all the pieces or you are in for a really hardcore challenge. The Minecraft Magnetic Travel Puzzle is also very handy because it keeps your pieces together, so you can bring it along on a road trip or to different surfaces in your home.
I want to play with things!
The world away from the screen offers even more forms of entertainment. Like toys! Not only are they decorative and super cute, but you can use them to create your very own games. I like to do this when the developers are busy working on The Wild Update ignoring me. I don’t need them, I have Treasure X Minecraft packs! No longer are my mining, crafting, and adventuring needs only met through a screen, I can do it all in real life! There are real gold-dipped treasures to unearth, characters to craft, and with the Overworld Pack I can mine through lava. That’s right. L-A-V-A. I’m basically a strider now, there’s no way to ignore me.
You can keep crafting offline thanks to LEGO’s adorable sets! Rule over your own rural kingdom in The Rabbit Ranch! There are flowers to plant, carrots to snack on, rabbits to befriend, and zombies to keep at bay. You know, typical farm stuff. You can also take a dip in the ocean with The Guardian Battle. Swim down into the deep to befriend glow squid and team up with the axolotls to take on the guardians once and for all! I thought I would have better luck with LEGO guardians, but they were just as scary as the digital ones. Luckily, the axolotls were just as cute and brave!
I want to dress up!
Sometimes, you find yourself in a situation where you can’t play a game or with your favorite toys. I know! Awful. But luckily, you can wear the fun you should be having at all times. Packing your things for school or a trip might seem like a task that keeps you from the Overworld, but if you’re putting your belongings in a Minecraft backpack you’re basically just putting them in the game. That’s how physical space works, right? Don’t bother explaining, I can’t hear you because I am putting on a Minecraft Old Navy hoodie so that I can be one with the game. And toasty warm. What a twofer!
But life isn’t all about wearing clothes, another important factor is personal hygiene. Like washing your hands or your entire self with a shower. It gets you clean and you can rinse off all that lava you just swam through. But as soon as you hop out, you can wrap yourself in a Minecraft towel! Now you’re dry and ready to play.
Whether you give a gift to a friend, a loved one, a rival for some reason, or yourself, remember the golden rule of springtime gift-giving: it’s the thought that counts. Now if you’ll excuse me, I just got my hands on the latest Minecraft novel, The Mob Squad by Deliah S. Dawson. Oh look, there’s an inscription inside! To my favorite person/strider. Love, me. Naaaw. How sweet!
