The villagers are annoyed with me and, for once, I can understand where they're coming from.
After all, I stole their animals to create a farm, I cut down their woodland to build a restaurant, and I repeatedly flooded their homes during the construction of my vast aquarium. At this point I'm willing to concede that I've not always been a fantastic neighbour.
But, try as I might, I can't seem to convince them that I'm actually a really kind, handsome, generous, and beautiful person. Despite my best efforts at building bridges (sometimes literally, so I could access the waterfront without passing one of their disgusting houses), I somehow remain the least popular person in the neighbourhood.
In fact, the only thing the villagers seem to dislike more than me are the enemy mobs that swarm the streets after dark. And that gives me an idea. I will regain the friendship and respect of the villagers by protecting them and their homes from the things that go bump in the night. I will stand as the village's first and last defence against evil-doers. I will become a superhero.
But before I can begin patrolling the village and dispensing vigilante justice to creepers and skeletons, I'm going to need a suitably heroic base of operations. I decide that a mountain overlooking the village will do nicely, and set to work hollowing out this snowy peak.
