First stop: DreamWorks' How to Train Your Dragon DLC
I may be a cold-plunging native Scandinavian, but unfortunately, very few people (read: nobody) seem to think of me as a Viking. Well, the joke’s on them because as I dive into this DLC, I land on the Isle of Berk, home of Vikings and dragons.
Hiccup and Toothless are there to welcome me, giving me solid proof that I have nothing to worry about – dragons can be friendly too! But before I can do any dragon training myself, I need to pass a test. Safety first – I like that! I do what I’m told and walk through the gates into an arena, only to realize that they shut them behind me. Hang on. At the other end, something much larger than anything I’ve seen before emerges...
I LIED! I’m not a real Viking, I am only a writer! I scream at my screen, but Berk seems to have a different onboarding process than Mojang Studios. So here I am, locked in a dragon-fighting arena without even a pickaxe. What’s worse, I’m told to approach and feed this beast! I reluctantly crawl towards it with my arm outstretched, about to find out if it does eat rocks or if I’m the dinner...
Next thing I know I am UP ON ITS BACK, and we’re flying! I try my best to get this huge creature to swerve obstacles and, well, stay alive. In no time, I’ve tamed my first dragon, learned how to ride it, and made it breathe fire at my enemies. Viking or not, I’m a natural!
No time to waste! Rumor has spread and the other Vikings all need me for an important and very dangerous mission. There are several species of dragons, and we’re set on taming them all. But first I need to locate them. Me and my new, fire-breathing friend set off!
The adventure that follows is one for the runes. If you haven’t learned how to read Viking yet – sorry, I can’t help you. You’ll just have to visit Berk and experience it yourself! What I will say is that not all dragons eat rocks (gulp!), and Vikings are also not the only ones after them. On the other hand, the sight of Valka’s Mountain is more striking than the Northern Lights and oxidized copper blocks combined!
So, am I a real Viking? That’s still very much up in the air. But if you want to put your Viking prowess to the test, DreamWorks’ How to Train Your Dragon DLC is on sale at 33% off until December 24! You can tell me all about your burnt eyebrows tomorrow at our next stop: The in-game Universal Studios Event.
*Requires the latest version of Minecraft: Bedrock Edition (sold separately). Limit: 1 of each free Character Creator item per person.
