Earlier this year, we released a preview version of Minecraft for PlayStation®5. Thanks to your feedback and some eager tinkering, the native PS5® version of Minecraft is launching on October 22!
That’s right! In a little over a month, you’ll be able to play the release version of Minecraft for PS5®, optimized to take advantage of the console’s more powerful hardware. This means your game will have a greater render distance while still being 4k resolution and 60 fps, allowing you to take in even more frames and pixels while running from Endermen in the Overworld. Delightful!
Playing this release version also means you will get to cross-play with friends across all Bedrock devices and access the Minecraft Store, where you can spend your Minecraft tokens on worlds, add-ons, skin packs, and more exciting community-made content.
How to get Minecraft for PlayStation®5
If you already have Minecraft for PS4®, you will be able to get the PS5® native version for free. Just access the PlayStation® Store via your PS5® (ensuring that you’re logged in) and claim your digital copy. Of course, if you don’t own any version of Minecraft for PlayStation®, you can purchase a copy via the PlayStation® Store or at your closest retailer of video games.
Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to go back to designing a TNT-based contraption that will really put that framerate to the test next month.
