    New Year’s Celebration: Trident City

    Explore the ocean’s depths in this free map from Shaliquinn's Schematics!

    Our New Year's Celebration continues, and this week we're going on an underwater adventure! Although I have to say I have my reservations...

    Do the depths of the ocean also intrigue but terrify you at the same time? Have underwater levels always made your palms sweat way too much? Sometimes I wish I could somehow bring the ocean floor to the surface just to explore all the wonders down there. Luckily, that won’t be necessary, because that’s exactly what Shaliquinn's Schematics has done! Aspiring underwater explorers who fear deep-sea diving can now rejoice because no scuba equipment is needed for this adventure.

    An underwater wonderland brought to the surface!

    In this expansive, free Survival world, you choose how to explore Trident City – a once lost metropolis that’s now yours to rediscover. Put on a pair of elytra wings and zoom past majestic sea sculptures and giant underwater flora as you take in the incredible views of the city. You can even test your accuracy by flying through the floating rings that go around the city. Then, take a closer look around its buildings and streets to discover some carefully hidden treasure chests! 

    When asked what part of the map was the most fun to build, Shaliquinn from Shaliquinn's Schematics said:  

    I had lots of fun designing the large whale for the middle of this project! I mostly do organics with our team, and for this map we stuck with things we know that players will love: parkour, elytra flights, amazing views, and places to explore. There are even 20 special loot chests throughout the map, try and find them all!

    Never been a fan of prismarine? If these buildings don’t change your mind even a little bit, nothing will.

    But don’t rush to those chests quite yet – apparently the city also has its perils. Worryingly, Shaliquinn advised me to “find some armor, some food, and some great views when setting up your new base!” And if my limited experience as a survivor says anything, that can only mean one thing. You must keep your trident close, because when darkness falls, the mobs come out to... well, definitely not play. More like relentlessly attack you. Thankfully I’m used to being victimized by many a mob, like that one time my slime farm got waaay out of control.  

    If fighting isn’t for you, a great solution is to take shelter by building your own base or – even better – claim the magnificent palace at the heart of the city all to yourself. They can’t hurt you if they can’t reach you. I wish my slime farm had a palace I could barricade myself into. I didn’t stand a chance.

    Like with all underwater vegetation, I have no clue what I’m looking at but it sure is pretty!

    The stunning Trident City is the perfect place to celebrate the New Year – and you can get this map for free on Minecraft Marketplace now. One final tip from Shaliquinn before we embark on our underwater adventure: “Be creative, and don’t forget to explore nooks and crannies.” I’ll elytra race you to the castle!
