Longtime readers know what happens at the end of the year – everyone’s favorite, least made-up holiday: Java Realms Day! This time, I will tell a story that took place in a special realm around this time of the year, where the new mob on the block was getting ready to celebrate their first Java Realms Day! Yes, gather 'round as I will bellow out (and feel free to sing out loud the article lines as you read along) the carol of the Creaking!
New on Realms: Carol of the Creaking
Twenty-two festive maps!
In the early morning of Java Realms Day, the creaking awoke, annoyed at the sounds of the pestering elves, who were preparing for the day’s festivities. Like any sane Minecraft mob, the creaking figured the only rational reaction would be to grab the nearest cannon and start blasting all the elves into the nearby waterhole. Unsurprisingly, the elves did not appreciate a cold bath with their biome being snowy and all, so as it happens, they all re-enacted this mini-game we have here!
SNOWY SKIRMISH 2: AVALANCHE
by Zeronia
Seeing the creaking’s curmudgeonly attempts to ruin the proceedings, the elves fought back, and a huge snowball fight broke out! Powerups were used, combatants were sent back to their respawn area, and as one would imagine when partaking in a mini-game so good they had to make a sequel; these polar opposite enemies (not a snow pun, I promise) seemed to be having fun together! While still chucking an absurd number of snowballs back and forth, of course.
PICTURE-IT!
by Verart
As the mood had changed, the creaking had succumbed to the holiday spirit. Scurrying into the elves’ abode, the creaking wanted to preserve this joyous moment forever. Using a polaroid camera, they snapped pictures of as many random, festive objects as they could find in the house and hastily filled up a bingo card... just like you do in Picture-It! And that day we learned that even the scariest mobs have a soft spot for holidays celebrating mapmaker releases. Some say the creaking’s heart block grew three sizes that day, which unfortunately made it way easier for players to locate it, leading ultimately to its demise. All’s well that ends well!
