During the winter, the world becomes quiet. Trees drop their leaves, animals hibernate, and – if it’s cold enough – ice spreads across the surface of bodies of water. When springtime rolls around, this process reverses – trees grow new leaves, animals emerge blinking into the sunlight, and anyone walking on a frozen lake needs to be very careful as the ice cracks and melts.
In Minecraft, things are different. We have biomes instead of seasons – you can visit a springlike cherry grove, a summer-y Savanna, an autumnal Taiga, or a wintery snowy slopes all in one day. But there’s still a type of ice that can form in any biome, which cracks and melts over time. It’s frosted ice, and it’s our block of the month.
