Dev Diary: Minecraft Legends’ major update

Pathfinding, custom game modes, petting animals, and more!

The life of a Minecraft Legends hero isn’t always epic fighting, careful strategizing, or careless treetop bouncing. Sometimes, you also yell at your golems in frustration as you watch them fall off a bridge. But thanks to the game’s first major update, you can expect to do much less of that and much more adorable animal petting!

Based on your feedback, the team has made incremental improvements to Minecraft Legends every month since its release, but this new update packs a lot of important changes. Our Principal Producer Nathan Rose and Principal Design Director Craig Leigh team up in this Dev Diary to walk us through the major ways in which the game is changing, including:

  • Optimized onboarding, Banner View, mob recall, and pathfinding

  • Custom campaign and PvP modes that allow you to tailor your experience to your playstyle

  • The ability to pet Overworld animals and watch them react in adorable ways

Now – and I can’t believe I’m saying this as a writer – stop reading and start watching!

If you’re more of a reader, we also have an article with plenty of info on the update as well as the newest Lost Legend, The Crucible.

Are you excited about the new features? Which animal will you pet first? Let us know on Discord, and make sure you stay up to date with @legends_game for the latest news.
