Adventures in English with Cambridge available for Bedrock Edition

I’ve always believed that playing video games is one of the best ways to learn a new language – even if you supposedly write in it for a living. In fact, Minecraft is the only reason I know what diorite is, even though sometimes I still wish I didn’t. I’m sure it has its place but not in my builds! I'm all about that prismarine.

Now that my pointless tangent icebreaker is out of the way, I have some actual exciting news: Adventures in English with Cambridge is now available to purchase for Bedrock Edition! This previously Education Edition-exclusive DLC is a fun way for students aged eight and up to practice communication skills, listening and reading comprehension, and spelling. The lesson was created in partnership with Cambridge Assessment English, the world’s leading experts in English language learning, part of the University of Cambridge in the UK, and takes place in an incredible Minecraft world! Plus, you can also download a free Character Creator item to wear on the adventure – a set of Fairy Wings called “Lilac’s Wings”.

The three-chapter adventure starts on the coast of an island, in a vast library run by a fairy! But things are not as idyllic as they seem – pages from two books are missing, and the stories in them are broken. A brave adventurer must enter the broken stories – the Book of Treasure and the Book of Snow – one at a time to fix them by solving language puzzles. Each book has its own unique setting: a lush tropical island and a massive mansion set in a frozen world. Between adventures, the player returns to the library to receive the next mission.

Thanks to the trophy system and secrets hidden in the DLC, revisiting the adventures and solidifying knowledge becomes a blast. The world even features hint blocks that can help get students unstuck (something I appreciate a LOT). Make sure you check out the lesson page for an overview of Adventures in English with Cambridge. This lesson is suitable for level A1 and above of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

This is the first piece of paid DLC we’re releasing in the Education Collection in the Marketplace, so make sure you keep an eye out for more engaging lessons for Bedrock Edition!
