It’s the most festive time of the year! We know not everyone can travel to see their friends and family for the holidays, and you might be looking for a way to still celebrate with the people you love. Or, it might be that throwing a blocky party might just be a fun addition to your existing holiday plans!

5 Steps to Host a Holiday Party in Minecraft

Whatever the reason, there are many ways to feel like you’re spending time together while playing Minecraft, especially when playing in a shared Realm. In today’s article we’re going to help you do just that, with fun visual examples created by our Community Team to use as inspiration!
Step 1: Set Up Your Realm
Setting up a Realm in Minecraft is a great way to easily create a shared world for others to join. Realms allow for up to 10 players to join in on the fun, even if the host is offline!
If you need some help, there are helpful guides for how to create a Realm and invite friends on both Minecraft: Bedrock Edition and Minecraft: Java Edition.
Step 2: Load in Texture Packs
Texture packs dramatically transform the look of worlds! There’s a variety of holiday themed texture packs in Marketplace on Bedrock Edition, as well as a wealth of community-made texture packs available on the web for Java Edition. If you need help enabling a texture pack, see our handy dandy article.
Step 3: Invite Your Friends
Technically, you can simply send your friends using an easy-to-share invite link to your Realm, which will get them all set up in no time! But this is a party, not just a regular ‘ol day in Minecraft. So think about how you might want to send a fun invitation to help get everyone into the spirit!
You can use an online e-vite system to send a virtual invitation, or if you really want to go that extra mile, you could handwrite your party invites. And don’t forget to encourage your friends to don their favorite festive Character Creator items!

Step 4: Find the Perfect Location or Meeting Place
Finding the right location is key to a successful holiday party! Whether you’re looking for a winter wonderland or a tropical escape from the cold, a good location will help get everyone into the holiday spirit. Explore around to find that perfect flat area, long stretch of beach, or jagged mountain peak.
If cheats are enabled in your world, you can open the chat window and type “/locate biome <biome name>” to find the coordinates of a specific biome you’re looking for.

Step 5: Last but certainly not least...DECORATE!
Decorations are a must, and there are a few different ways you can go about this. If you want to surprise your friends with a ready-to-party experience (or want to make sure everything is up to your very specific standards), you can decorate ahead of time! That way the party can start as soon as everyone arrives! Alternatively, you could determine a theme ahead of time and allow everyone to decorate their own section for a more collaborative experience. That way part of your event can involve everyone showing off their spirited creations. It’s up to you!
And if you need ideas for activities for your party, we’ve already brainstormed a few:
· An all-digital gift exchange (think game codes, gift cards, etc)
· Minecraft themed holiday bingo
· Best dressed avatar contest
· In-game scavenger hunt (can you find all the bells/sweet berries/etc)
· Build in-game puzzles to solve
· Gingerbread house building/decorating contest
· Create a blocky photobooth and take screenshots
· Share a holiday playlist so you can all listen to the same jams
· In-game festive karaoke
The possibilities are endless, so let your imagination run wild! If you need some inspiration, our team got together and created a few festive builds of our own to get you started:
A tip from us: Are you playing in Creative mode or using cheats? Check your world settings to change weather, time, and other game rules to stop the Daylight Cycle or Weather Cycle and create your optimal holiday setting.
And there you have it! You had everything you needed to throw the perfect blocky party all along.
