My summer road trip in the sky was drawing to a close and I was once again flying solo with the happy ghast. My travel companions had chosen the Warm Ocean over me, and I couldn’t really blame them. I also didn’t regret taking the only boat with me, which was swaying below the happy ghast.
I wanted to find the perfect spot, but the sun had set and I was getting sleepy. Without wasting any more time dillying and dallying, picking and choosing, we flew straight down. Don’t judge me! That rule doesn’t apply to the sky! I don’t think…
Since the sun had long set, I started mining out a rudimentary but cozy shelter. Digging at an angle, not straight down (see! I can behave) I carved out a little hidey hole and placed a few of my candles from the Deep Dark. Just because a home is modest doesn’t mean it doesn’t need ambiance. But when the light danced on the walls, I couldn’t believe my eyes! I had found myself a rich emerald ore vein! I deserved this.
Only a few biomes generate emerald ore, but naturally generated emeralds are even rarer than diamonds!

With my pockets full of ore, I fell sound asleep. When I woke up in the morning, my eyes did another double take. In the light of day, I could take in the full beauty of the biome I had landed in. It was like nothing I had ever seen before. Could I still be asleep and was in the middle of an incredibly vivid green and pink dream? I looked around for a skeleton with an abnormally large head, but the coast was clear. I considered pinching myself, but there was no need for violence. Not in front of the bees!
This time, I kept a respectful distance from the busy buzzers while I explored. Petals from the trees fell lightly around me, like snow. Except it wasn’t cold (yay!) and couldn’t be rolled into balls (boo!) Nothing’s perfect, except for writers editors. The place wasn’t very big, and I could feel how special and rare it was.
I climbed up on a tree and took a seat on top of the leaves. Even though I had spent weeks seeing the Overworld from above, there was something about this view. Now I could see the happy ghast roaming over the treetops. It was nice to see it moving around without a destination, just vibing. It was nice to slow down, and just be.
This tree’s real life counterpart only flowers for a brief period of time, unlike the perpetual flowers of the Overworld.

My mind drifted, and I reflected on the summer. How far we had come, the happy ghast and I! When I brought the dried ghast block back from the Nether, I never would have guessed that we would have travelled this far. Or had so many adventures. We even made a bunch of friends along the way. And the mobs. The mobs! Terrifying drowned on the attack, an adorable armadillo on the roll, and the frogs and little tiny tadpoles. We even almost met the Warden! That was a close call. I only wished we had seen a screaming goat. Oh well, I could be my own screaming goat.
What would I do next? Even though I had spent a long time embracing the unknown, but the future was something else. It felt so big, but at the same time small. The sun was starting to set, adding a spectacular orange hue to the pink. This was amazing. I hope everybody gets to experience this. All of it, actually. My entire summer had been incredible, and it was all thanks to my happy ghast. Well, and to me.
Me…
That was the key! Of course! You know that when your epiphany rhymes, it’s illegal to question it. Trust me, I’ve had more than enough run-ins with the law. I knew what I needed to do now and sadly it meant it was time for one more trip.
This biome made its way into the Overworld in the Trails & Tales update.

I climbed down and made sure to collect plenty of saplings. If I couldn’t stay, a little bit of this magical place could at least come with me. Climbing back up on the happy ghast, I felt a sense of resolve in my belly. And then I felt a sense of emptiness. Snack time, but first I needed to finish this postcard.
