We on the Minecraft Community and Social Teams have been very excited for the Minecraft cookbook, Gather, Cook, Eat!, which was released earlier this month. As soon as it dropped, we knew we had to give the recipes in it a try. Rolling up our sleeves and cracking open our real-life kitchens, several of us had a lot of fun following the instructions in the cookbook. We wanted to share our results with you all.

Fun with the Official Minecraft Cookbook

Kristina:
I couldn’t decide which recipe to make (everything looks so delicious!) so I actually made two meals. My parents were in town visiting, so this was the perfect opportunity to wow them with my culinary prowess. I did get raised eyebrows when they (understandably) asked me what was so suspicious about the stew, but I told them not to worry about it. It’s probably fine.
As you probably can guess, I first made the Suspicious Stew. I followed the recipe exactly, except for the fact that I had some stew meat in my freezer, so I tossed that in as well. It was so nice and hearty, and I loved the addition of greens to the recipe. That was something I had never tried before, and it really did feel like it was healthier!
The second meal I put together was a combination of the Noodle Caves and the Chorus Fruit Spritzer. You really can’t go wrong with noodles and cheese, and the spritzers were incredibly crisp and tasty. We even added extra fresh blueberries and mint as a garnish, which felt extra fancy. To round out the meal I also roasted some asparagus in olive oil and lemon juice, which was the perfect side. The meal was a hit – there weren’t any leftovers!

Mike:
I was meeting up with my sister for the weekend and thought it would be a great opportunity to try something new. We decided to make some Mushroom Fields Steaks with a side of Roasted Crops, and the two went together perfectly! The marinade for the portobello mushrooms was simple but delicious, and the oven roasted carrots and beets brought a bit of sweetness to an otherwise earthy and filling meal. We should have paid more attention to the ingredients, however: we used ground thyme instead of dried thyme in the roasted crops, so we put way more thyme in than we should have. It was still delicious though, so I'll say it was a happy accident.
To finish our cooking project, we tried out the TNTea recipe. The pop-rocks didn't end up affecting the flavor much, but they certainly earned the drink its name once the boiling water was added!

Meesh:
After a very busy week (spring break!), I decided to go all out for Sunday dinner. There were so many great recipes that it was hard to narrow it down, so I let my family vote on what we would have, and the result was unanimous: everyone wanted some "Smoker" Brisket! I happily rolled up my sleeves and got to gathering the ingredients. This recipe took a long time to prepare, and it was simpler than I expected, but the results were incredible.
There was a fair amount of black pepper in the rub, and I was a little worried that it would be too strong for my kids, but they ended up eating more than I did! Don’t let the prep time or bold flavors fool you: it’s the perfect balance. I served it alongside some roasted curried turnips, which I definitely recommend.

Morgan:
Sometimes you’re in the mood for a snack but you can’t decide between something savory and something sweet. That’s where I was, unable to decide, so I made a little of both! Hoglins and Lava were delicious savory snacks with a little bit of heat and there was plenty to share. I had to have some dessert too, and what better to have than cookies and milk! If you’re like me and think a milkshake is even better than milk, then the Potion of the Turtle Master is for you, with ice cream, caramel, and nuts. It’s the perfect beverage to enjoy with some Firework Star Cookies. They may look innocent, but they’ll definitely surprise you with some fireworks. This may not have been the most balanced meal, but it was definitely a delicious one.
We had an absolute blast working on these, and even more fun eating them afterward. Have you made any of the recipes in our new cookbook, Minecraft: Gather, Cook, Eat!? If so, we would love to see your own forays into the world of cooking Minecraft recipes in real life. Please be sure to tag our channels on social media!
