This week, Java snapshots and Bedrock betas & previews will introduce you to the next Minecraft 1.20 feature: playable mob sounds! When you place a mob head on a note block, it will now play that mob’s ambient sound. This feature also brings piglin heads to the collection that already includes the zombie, creeper, skeleton, wither skeleton, and Ender Dragon. At last you can create a zombie zymphony, or an Ender Dragon alarm system. Want to create a creeper white noise machine to help you sleep at night? Sleep sSsSsssoundly, friend.
Speaking of sleep, would you mind using your indoor voice? We’re standing in a secret library. This place is as cool as it is mysterious, so I am going to be delivering all the Minecraft 1.20 news from here. I discovered it the other day when I was looking for a new hiding spot for my first drafts. What makes it so secret, you ask (quietly)? Well, when I asked around the office about it, I was met by blanker stares than usual. It was also boarded up and had a sign on it that read “Go Away”. Luckily, I only read my own writing and those planks didn’t stand a chance against my writer’s crowbar.
With bookshelves as far as the eye can see, it proved difficult to pick which secret book to share with you first. But since playable mob sounds are still ringing in my head, I’ve headed straight for the music section!
