Students Battle for a Better City in Minecraft on ESPN!

Esports has unlocked a passion for learning through play and friendly competition. Schools all over the world are hosting esports evens and some universities are even offering scholarships. Research shows that esports help people develop skills they’ll need in future careers, like collaboration, communication, and critical thinking.

Earlier this year, we hosted the Battle of the Boroughs with the New York City Department of Education, inviting thousands of students to build a more sustainable, equitable NYC during a timed challenge in a Minecraft arena. The results were inspiring! Teams from each borough were selected to compete in a live Twitch stream, which has attracted more than 350,000 views.

ESPN is rebroadcasting the epic Twitch stream this weekend. Tune in to ESPNU on Sunday, August 8th at 5PM PST to watch the student finalists compete for a better tomorrow with Minecraft!
