Ah, there you are! We’re just about to set off. The Spring to Life drop is now playable in Minecraft, awakening plenty of ambient features and fluffy friends for us to discover all across the Overworld. Have you freed up your inventory? Packed some carrots? Perfect! Then hop on your choice of pig (yes, there are three!) and let’s explore the wonders of our first game drop of 2025.

But first, let's take a look at the trailer for Spring to Life!
Mob variants, wolf sounds, and sheep spawning
*Points excitedly* Look! Can you see them out there on the icy tundra? Some of our oldest mobs have roamed this blocky earth long enough to adapt to their climates. That fluffy pig, long-haired cow, and blue-gray chicken playing in the snow are our new cold mob variants. In our sandy biomes, you’ll instead spot the warm mob variants matching the sandy shades of the dunes. Similarly, sheep grow wool of different colors depending on their biome!
Shhh! Did you hear that? It sounded like a huge growl. No, not from my belly! It came from– aha! It’s a wolf making one of the new sounds! Wolves now spawn with one of seven personalities, which can be heard in how they express themselves. I hope you packed plenty of bones, so we can bring them all back to our base!
New spawn egg textures (Creative mode)
To befriend wolves without facing skeletons, you can always hop into Creative mode and spawn however many wolves you'd like! Plus, then you get to see the new spawn egg textures. Each spawn egg now looks like the mob type it spawns, with distinct characteristics like horns, snouts, or wings. An eggcellent opportunity to go absolutely wild!
Ambient features
Back to our expedition! OK, this growl definitely came from my stomach, so I’d say it’s time to find the perfect spot for a picnic. It’ll be a tough choice because the new ambient features have made each biome feel more immersive than ever. From the whispers of sand and vibrant cactus flowers to falling leaves and sun-kissed wildflowers, the Overworld is full of new sounds, movement, and lush plant blocks.
Oh, I know the perfect spot! It's right by the water and it has the best view of the sunset. Follow me and we'll be there just in time for the spectacle.
Growing near water is the new firefly bush, a mesmerizing plant block that springs to life with glittering fireflies dancing in the dark. And what a sight to lose yourself in!
Explore with intent
Ehhh... speaking of losing yourself. Do you remember which way we came? Ehm... me neither. But hang on! Now that lodestones are easier to craft, and only require an iron ingot with chiseled bricks, I placed a lodestone in our camp and tapped it with this compass, so – it’s this way! But since we now know the way back, I’d say we dare to venture even farther! I'm tempted to pick up some new maps from cartographers, stock up with great deals with the wandering trader, and see what else the Spring to Life drop has to offer.
