Minecraft now available for PS5®

We’re bundling a lot of exciting news together today – because not only is today the launch of the Bundles of Bravery drop, it’s also the launch of Minecraft on PlayStation®5! This native version of Minecraft is optimized to take advantage of the PS5®’s powerful hardware, so your game will have a greater render distance while still running in 4K resolution and 60 FPS. Seeing farther will definitely come in handy as you seek out ingredients for your bundles in Hardcore mode!

The Bundles of Bravery drop

The Bundles of Bravery drop not only brings bundles – an item that lets you store other items in it – to Minecraft, it also lets Bedrock players experience the thrills (and spills) of Hardcore mode for the first time! Hardcore mode is the toughest survival challenge Minecraft has to offer – where the game’s difficulty is locked to the highest setting. If that didn’t sound tricky enough, you also only have one life in Hardcore mode. ONE! And there’s no respawning. That means if you get stuck in a crowd of creepers, fall from a cliff, or let your hearts dwindle to nothing – you won’t be able to respawn. Instead, you’ll only be able to spectate your world. So make sure you stuff lots of survival tools in your bundles – and get ready for this latest challenge!

Not only is Minecraft for PS5® available now, but you can claim it for free if you already own Minecraft: Bedrock Edition for PS4®! To do so, simply access the PlayStation® Store via your PS5® (ensuring that you’re logged in) and claim your digital copy. Just remember that if you own the disc version of Bedrock Edition for PS4®, you’ll need to insert it to play Minecraft on PS5®. Of course, if you don’t own any version of Minecraft for PlayStation®, you can purchase a copy via the PlayStation® Store or at your closest video game retailer.

Minecraft for PS5® supports cross-play with any other Minecraft: Bedrock Edition device – so you can embark on your next Hardcore adventure with friends on your realm! Automatic back-ups are included in Realms too – which are extra useful when playing in Hardcore mode. Is it technically cheating if I re-load a Realm in which I don’t succumb to a creeper attack? I’ll let you be the judge of that! Editor’s note: It definitely is.
