Kick off the year with new rewards

Welcome to 2026, dear reader! Last year, we unleashed mayhem-loving mounts, fun-loving ghasts, and both warm and cold varieties of cows, pigs, and chickens. And a lot more, but you’ll have to explore the game or scroll back on the Minecraft.net feed for those details! Right now, I want to look forward into the future. Particularly, the very near future! We’ve got some fun activities to kick the year off in true Minecraft style, and we’re going to need the entire community to join in!

Community challenges

Let’s set the bar high. Sky high! Or sky low, because these blocks are all on surface level. Whether you’re new to Minecraft or you’ve been digging straight down since the beginning, the entire community have officially been challenged to mine 4.25 billion stone blocks between Wednesday, January 7 8:00 AM PT/ 17:00 CET to Monday, January 12 11:00 AM PT/20:00 CET. Yeah. Billion! Spelled with a B, as in buzzy bee. So no excuses, get those pickaxes out because there’s a Victor’s Coat Character Creator item on the line!

This task might require some night-time mining, but that’s no problem since if we as a community also defeat 1.75 billion mobs in that same timeframe, we can also win a Victor’s Laurel Wings Character Creator item! Decked out in a coat and set of wings that scream WINNER is the exact vibe on my 2026 moodboard. That and more sandwiches!

Free Marketplace Add-on

Now that you’ve defeated countless mobs, mined to your heart’s content, tamed new mounts, and mastered the art of the spear, there’s only one thing left to do. Everything, all over again! Or at least the bits you liked the best. You can even spice it up by doing them in the free Mounts of Mayhem: Dungeon Descent add-on that will be made available in Minecraft Marketplace on Friday, January 9 11:00 AM PT/ 20:00 CET. In this dungeon you can even discover new unique charms and the custom saddle block! It lets you add new charms to your saddles to create particle trails behind your mounts! I love an extra sparkle to my mayhem, don’t you?

Now my only question to you is, are you ready to rise to the challenge? And my second only question is, why are you still reading this when there are cobblestones to mine?! Go on! We’re all in this together!
