Builders can now make more with concrete! Now you can build with concrete stairs and slabs in all 16 colors – simply combine a dye of your choice with sand and gravel to get your desired hue of concrete dust, place it in water to make a concrete block and then craft your concrete blocks into stairs or slabs. Or you can just grab it from the Creative inventory – I won’t tell.
A recap of the features released so far
In case you missed it, two weeks ago we released the first set of features from this drop! These include:
Cushions
Finally, a place to just sit down and take a breath! Or tell a story. Or enjoy a meal. Or just stare at a campfire. Cushions can be found in abandoned camps or crafted using 3 wool slabs of the same color. Cushions are a game changer when it comes to decorating your base or creating more lifelike builds. Now you can have the sectional of your dreams or a more realistic stadium! The sky Y = 320 is the limit.
Straw beds
Found in abandoned camps or crafted using 3 hay bales, straw beds are the easiest way to sleep through the night, oblivious to its horrors. Just remember that they are consumable, and they won’t reset your spawn point! As my back can attest to, cheap comfort has its tradeoffs, but there’s no feeling it like roughing it in nature.
The dappled forest
This welcoming, warm-toned biome is equally inviting and intriguing. Walk amongst the poplar trees and red shrubs, and who knows what you might stumble upon. Is that a tent?... Wonder who left that here.
The abandoned camp
This mysterious structure can appear in any biome. An empty tent, a campfire, a straw bed, a cushion... and some loot? Who built this and where have they gone? Light a fire, take a seat, and ponder that as the sun sets. It may be abandoned, but it’s a precious shelter.
Wool slabs and stairs
Our woolliest block set has two soft additions: stairs and slabs! Craft them in any of the 16 colors to add smoother shapes, layered textures, and creative details to everything from custom furniture to cozy hideouts ready for crisp nights in the wilderness.
Poplar trees, red shrub, and shelf mushroom
The dappled forest is rich in color palette and flora, thanks to the various plants and fungi found there. Enjoy the rich tones of the poplar tree’s foliage, then chop one down to get poplar wood, which can be crafted into a full set. Grab a red shrub and bring it home for a pop of color in your base. The versatile shelf mushrooms grow on poplar trees – jump on them, cook with them, or feed them bonemeal and watch them grow.
So pack your scout’s supplies and venture out! Your most rugged adventure yet awaits in Java snapshot and Bedrock beta & preview.
How can I test these features?
You can test these features by enabling snapshots for Minecraft: Java Edition, or by enabling previews/beta** for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. To install a snapshot, open up the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the "Installations" tab. To turn on an experiment in preview/beta for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition follow these instructions.
Send us your feedback!
These features are all still in development, which means that the details outlined above might change as we iterate on them. So then why have we released them into testing? Because we want your feedback! Send us your thoughts and report bugs at bugs.mojang.com!
