Mounts of Mayhem: Cave Arena

Stealth, sneaks, and spiders

Come on down! The Mounts of Mayhem challenge continues in this cavernous arena! We’re going full Minecraft for this one, as you may have noticed when you descended the expertly built mineshaft. If you thought you heard the telltale SsssSssSSSssssounds of a creeper –  – then fear not! That was just me. I like to set the stage. And that red trail isn’t anything ominous! It's actually just redstone. Sure, this arena I’ve built may seem rustic but it is actually fully automated. Do keep an eye out though, we’re in a real cave after all, and hostile mobs could be anywhere.

Speaking of, here come our antagonists now! They are veritably crawling out of the woodwork, or in this case stonework. Spiders, spiders, spiders galore! Now where is that hero? I heard that this one was truly outstanding. Good looking too, some have likened them to a strider. Yowza!

That’s right! It's me! Of course I’m going to multi-task this! No way was everyone else getting all the fun. OK, I’ve got my swift sneak enhanced legging, my Lunge enchantment-enhanced spear, and a bunch of cobblestone just in case. We’re ready to begin, I just need my megaphone. I know I left it around here somewhere… maybe it’s behind this lever.

Hey, where did the lights go?

Uh-oh. Maybe I shouldn’t have fully automated every single light source down here. I was just on such a redstone roll!

“Hissssssss.”

Sorry, I don’t speak spider. I always meant to learn, but you know. Time gets away from you.

“HISSSSSSS!”

Ah, OK! Sorry! I’m just the Minecraft MC, your hero is sneaking around somewhere! It’s not me, I swear! They look just like me, it’s my evil twin! Leave me alone, you angry arachnids! Does anyone have a torch? Please?!

Ah, great. Let’s light this and see AAAAAARGH! SPIDER JOCKEYS! EVERYBODY RUN!! No wait, come back with my torch!

I can’t distinguish the spiders’ footsteps from the audience’s footsteps and certainly not the spider jockey footsteps! The only thing I know for sure is that that was 100% an arrow that just flew past my ear. You will rue the day you mounted that eight-legged beast, skeleton!

Now in moments like these, which can only be described as Mayhem Plus, there is only one thing to do. And that is to break some rules. In times like these, it’s allowed! Which is why I am currently breaking one of the big ones. You can’t see it, but I am digging straight dooooooooooo

Ouff, that was a long fall. But I think I’m safe. This place is pretty dark, but there’s some pretty but eerie lights. What is that? Is it… oh no. It’s sculk.

*SHRIEK*

Maybe I can sneak by it… AAAARGH WHAT WAS THAT? IT TOUCHED MY LEG!

*SHRIEK*
