    Happy Holidays

From everyone at Minecraft.net! Even Per!

Hello! I am a recently excavated human-like hologram that has been pulled from a time capsule that was sealed in 1998! Can you tell me about the year 2020? Is everyone still listening to the Titanic soundtrack? Did they find a way to avoid Y2K?

Just kidding everyone, it is just me. Fully human writer at Mojang Studios and person who experienced 2020 firsthand. For me, this has been a year of games! A little game called Minecraft Dungeons released this past spring and it was an absolute highlight to work on. It was also generous enough to provide some solutions to this problematic year. Not able to meet up with friends? At least we have cross-platform play in Minecraft Dungeons! Travel plans dashed again and again? Climb majestic peaks, traverse the wild jungles, and cross snow-covered fields all without leaving the comfort of home! Here’s hoping that 2021 has more Minecraft Dungeons in store. It does? Awesome! So, do I get that wish back or do I only have two wishes left? No, that doesn’t count as a wish! Ugh, I wish I didn’t have to write this article anymore. Wait that’s not what I me-

When Per approached me with the task of summarizing my year, I professionally scarfed down my bánh mì and got started. However, when I had outlined the third sandwich I had eaten for lunch on January 1 – a Reuben – I was rudely interrupted with the request to focus on my work and not on such a granular albeit delicious level. Fine. I guess I wrote some stuff for this website that is worth remembering, even though they all pale in comparison to the grilled cheese that I was prevented from describing. Although it was pretty cool to wish PAC-MAN a happy birthday and deliver news about the Star Wars DLC and the Community Celebration. I even found the time to recap one the most exciting events of the year – perfecting the Croque Monsieur! The trick is to make three and then just smash ’em all together into one grand garçon. Oh yeah, I also gave you a short summary of Minecraft Live. I think that Cristina might have read that last one, because she’s in a very deep sleep. Can somebody else wake her up, I have a tuna that won’t melt itself.

    Sofia

    *Yawns passive-aggressively*

I’m not thrilled about being awakened from my “waiting for 2021” hibernation – but this is the perfect opportunity to let Sofia know that I only accept apologies in the form of pizza. Or any of those sandwiches. And since the prospect of food always puts me in a good mood, I’m willing to look back on what will go down in history as a disastrous year for all of humanity in a positive light. At the start of the year, when we were all sweet summer children, I wrote my first blog article – a review of different Minecraft playstyles that I tried with… varying results. It was my first taste of the Minecraft.net spotlight and I sent it to all my friends. Both of them replied “K.”

Moving into the summer months, I had the opportunity to travel to the Nether – and even set up base there thanks to Sofia gracefully offering me her spare room. While my dream of Nether home ownership remains, well, a dream, I appreciated getting to see all the new biomes and their inhabitants up close. Barb and I still chat sometimes, although there’s only so many facts about gold to delve into. If you still haven’t checked out the new Nether, you’re missing out on the (mis)adventure of a lifetime. And if you’re only in it for the view, there’s always Creative Mode. I won’t tell if you don’t.
