    Eyeblossoms and resin enter the pale garden

    Have you stepped into the pale garden yet? This unsettling biome was released into testing recently in both Java snapshot and Bedrock preview/beta, meaning players the world over could take their first steps between its veils of hanging pale moss, and meet the mob that lurks there – the creaking!

    As a self-proclaimed scaredy-cat, I’ll tell you it’s a lot scarier having a staring contest with a creaking when everything all around you is pitch black. Which is why I am so excited about two of the newest features coming to Bedrock preview and beta testing this week: eyeblossoms and resin! Don't worry Java players – it'll be coming to Java snapshot soon, too!

     

     

    Eyeblossoms

    Eyeblossoms are a new flower unique to the pale garden
    Eyeblossoms are only found in the pale garden, and are closed during the day

    Eyeblossoms even encourage nearby eyeblossoms to bloom, too – and they give off an orange glow

    Eyeblossoms are a flower that’ll be unique to the pale garden. Grey and closed during the day, at night eyeblossoms bloom with an orange glow that’ll help you find a path through this dense biome. Each blooming eyeblossom will also encourage nearby eyeblossoms to bloom – just don’t do what I did and assume this glow means hostile mobs won’t spawn – eyeblossoms aren’t a light source – and creakings will definitely still find you…

    Eyeblossoms can also be used to craft dye – and the dye color it’ll create will be different depending on whether you mine them when they’re closed, or blooming.

     

    Resin

    Resin is a new block coming to testing that you can use for building – but how you get resin is where it becomes interesting. Resin is spawned from pale oak trees – but only if you’ve aggravated the pale garden’s local creaking population. As someone who is most definitely a runner, and not a fighter (not an ideal strategy against creakings…) getting my hands on those precious resin clumps took a lot of bravery, and more than a few failed attempts. But once you’ve got them, you can craft these clumps into resin bricks, and build to your heart’s content. 

    In fact, I plan to build an entire house from resin bricks! Of course that means I’ll have to face down a few more creakings…. Hmm. Perhaps I need to recruit my Realm buddies to help me with this (and then possibly go and make a cup of tea while they fight it out?). If you think that sounds cowardly of me – you’d be right! Listen, I told you I was a scaredy-cat at very beginning of this article. At least I’m an honest scaredy-cat? 

     

    Playtest these features today!

    You can test eyeblossoms and resin by enabling previews/beta* for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. To enable preview/beta for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition follow these instructions.  

    Eyeblossoms and resin will be coming to testing for Java snapshot at a later date.

    *Preview is available for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition Realms on Xbox, Windows 10/11, and iOS. Betas are available on Android (Google Play).

    Test on your Realm! 

    If you are a Realm owner, you can also play the betas* and previews* on your Realm! Any player who has an active Realms subscription is eligible to create a free testing Realm, so you can try out the new features with friends. Find more information on how to enable betas/previews on Bedrock Edition Realms*!

    Important note: testing versions can corrupt your world, so please backup and/or run them in a different save folder from your main worlds.
