This tutorial is Part Two of a three-part series of fairy builds, with Part One being a fairy castle to live in, and Part Three showing you how to make a well, a few lamp-post designs, and a cute fairy bench.
In Part Two, which is my personal favorite, you can learn how to build a fairy gazebo topped with overgrown vines and filled with dangling lanterns, a cute little fairy fountain (disclaimer: does not contain fairies like in The Legend of Zelda), and a fairy Nether portal for those of you who find all that purple a bit garish.
But don't worry – although fairies themselves are very hard to find, the materials used in Kelpie's builds aren't too difficult to get. It'll mostly be stone and spruce, along with whatever plants you like best. Kelpie suggests vines from the jungle, blue orchids from the swamp, and lots of crimson and warped fungus from the Nether, but if you're still at the beginning of the game, poppies, dandelions, and daisies look just as pretty.
The tricky part is getting things to look naturally and organically overgrown, and Kelpie doesn't break down this bit in the tutorial – it takes a lot of practice to get it right! But remember, with organic builds, it's all about tweaking it and trying different ideas until you're satisfied.
Although Kelpie uses a resource pack called Mizuno's 16 Craft to make their builds look extra storybook-esque, you can download the texture pack yourself on both Java and Bedrock Edition to get the same look!
When you're done with all your fairy cottage decor, though, you might be thinking that you don't actually have a cottage to go with it all. Luckily, Kelpie has roughly seventy billion designs for houses – whether you want a basic medieval starter house, a tiny, cute cottage hidden inside a tree, or something a little more ambitious, like Kelpie's Rapunzel-esque "Rose Tower", which definitely includes a front door, so you won't need to grow your hair super long to have visitors. I mean, you can if you want. I'm not your mom.
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go and pester the designers to add "troll" as a mob, so my troll bridge can actually live up to its name.
