Enter the shelf. Firstly, it’s a piece of tasteful decor that allows you to display your gear – from top-shelf items to valuable memorabilia. Each shelf block can hold up to three items in total, which you can easily rearrange. Want to swap out an item from your shelf? Simply interact with it while holding the item you want to replace it with. Secondly, the shelf is also highly functional. The swapping mechanic not only allows you to customize the items displayed, but it’s also a convenient way to swap out items in your hotbar between tasks or adventures.
Block engineers will be pleased to find out that you can also power shelves using redstone! Powered shelves have a few key advantages compared to regular ones:
- When interacting with a powered shelf, you swap out all three items instead of just one;
- Adjacent powered shelves that are facing the same way will connect to form longer shelves;
- The longer your row of powered shelves, the more items it will swap in and out of your inventory with one button press.
