Test the copper golem statue and the shelf block

Tidy chests thanks to the copper golem? Check. A shiny new copper gear collection? Check. Now that our testing players are doing more with copper, it’s time to put it all on display! This testing moment brings the adorable copper golem statue and the shelf block! You can test both these features in Bedrock preview & beta* right now, and they’re also coming to Java snapshot soon.

Do you want a copper golem in your base but don’t want anyone going through your chests? How... suspicious of you. But also, great news, my shady friend! Starting with this testing release, copper golems can also turn into statues!  

Copper golems already oxidize with time. But now, once they reach the maximum oxidation level, they will eventually turn into pretty, patina-covered statues! When a copper golem turns into a statue, it drops whatever item it was holding and strikes one of four poses to be immortalized forever – or at least until you scrape the patina off and get them moving again. You can change a copper golem statue’s pose by simply interacting with it – but that’s not all! When connected to a redstone comparator, each pose sends a distinct signal, allowing redstone engineers to create some clever combination-based contraptions! 

You may be wondering: how do the golems feel about that? Won’t they miss sorting messy abundant inventories into neat stacks? Don’t they need to stretch their little legs? Well, not really. Extensive research into the copper golem’s psyche (i.e. a developers’ private diary that I found in the lunchroom) reveals that golems’ happiness levels are virtually identical whether they are sorting items or hanging around your base – as a statue or otherwise. So feel free to assign your copper golems to sorting duty, statue duty, or both! And if you want to keep all your golems productive, simply wax them and they’ll keep clonking away around your base.

Aside from copper golems, there’s another secret to keeping your base well-organized – and that’s being able to see your stuff. What’s in that chest? Who knows! What’s in that other one? Beats me! I may have only filled them yesterday, but their contents have already been wiped from my brain.
