Here in Sweden, the sun is shining (most days). The streets are full of people wearing sunglasses they definitely just bought, flowery summer dresses are twirling in the refreshing breeze, and even the seagulls seem to be in a suspiciously good mood. It’s the kind of weather that makes you want to grab an ice cream, sit on a bench, and pretend you’re a Minecraft villager on vacation.
Sun, beaches, and ice cream‑themed maps would have been the perfect fit for a July release. But if there’s one thing this month reminds me of, it’s that Halloween, my personal favorite time of year, is creeping closer with the subtlety of a zombie in full daylight.
This month’s release is packed with all sorts of summer‑friendly adventures. You can gather your friends and play games like Armada or Codenames, or head out exploring across Island of the Crown, Prismatic Mines, or Overgrown Canopy. Feeling extra breezy? Hop on a boat and glide across the icy maze in Dune Rush – it’s basically summer… but colder.
And if you’re like me and your parkour skills are, let’s say, “artistically unpredictable,” you can skip the jumping entirely and wander through the spooky halls of Haunted Hotel, feed The Hungry in Snack Attack, or discover who (or what) is lurking in Pallid Gardens.
How do I play the new Java Realms maps?
Boot up Minecraft on your device of choice, then find Minecraft Realms in the starting menu. Press the “Configure” button, then choose the “Reset World” option on the Realm slot you’re ok with overwriting (or use the “Minigame” slot for minigames). Now you can pick the map you want to play from the corresponding categories!
Summer vibes, Check! Spooky vibes Check – July really has it all.
