You might have already heard of Twitch! It’s a great bit of the internet where you can watch people play all types of video games (including one of our personal favorites – Minecraft!) You can also stream your own content and possibly become famous on the internet thanks to epic skills or pitch-perfect light-hearted banter. Get enough people watching and you can earn real-life money to reinvest in Minecraft Marketplace (or other places of significantly less value).
We’re talking about Twitch because we are about to launch a Tiny Takeover campaign! This special event has something for everyone, whether you’re streaming or watching!
First! An important message
Twitch Tiny Takeover is a partnership between Twitch and Mojang Studios. Mojang has not sponsored or endorsed any creators to participate in Twitch Tiny Takeover.
When is this happening?
Super soon! The Campaign launches on April 6th at 9:00am PT. Note that the streamer spaces are limited and offered on a first-come, first-served basis, so we recommend you’re ready to roll when the campaign goes live!
I am a viewer! What’s the deal?
More into watching than streaming? No worries. Watch a mere five minutes of Minecraft content from any streamer streaming in the Minecraft category, and you’ll earn a Hatchling Hat, Baby Turtle Hat, and a Baby Rabbit Hat! Is that too many hats? Of course not! It’s the perfect number of hats!
There’s also a Baby Chick Badge up for grabs; purchase or gift a subscription to get one of those (Prime Subs are excluded from this offer).
Your rewards are delivered to your Twitch inbox and can and redeemed on Minecraft.net. See redemption terms below.
I’m a streamer! Can I get a hat? Or maybe some MONEY?
Opt into the campaign through your Streamer Dashboard and stream at least one hour of Minecraft gameplay in the Minecraft category, and you’ll become eligible to earn up to ONE THOUSAND dollars! Participating streams will also get a special skin overlay. Selected streamers will have a chance to be featured on the Twitch front page shelf. It’s all very exciting and potentially lucrative.
This kind of thing is usually exclusive to Partners but we’re letting in all kinds of creators. It doesn’t matter if you’re a pro streamer or just starting out.
Note that you will already need to be in the Twitch Affiliate Program to earn the streamer rewards. Learn more about that here.
Earnings will appear in the Sponsorship Portal revenue dashboard within a week, pending moderation.
And yes – streamers can get a hat. Loads of hats! Just watch someone else’s stream for at least five minutes. We did mention this a few paragraphs ago, but there are some serious hats involved so we thought it was worth the reminder.
This is destined to be a super fun community event, packed with Minecraft goodness and… did we mention… HATS and MONEY? Get involved! April 6th! Twitch! See you there!
