It’s official. Servers and Realms are coming to PlayStation, so you know what that means. I have to swallow my pride and actually make some friends. I know, my sparkling personality and even sparklier pores would lead you to believe that I am surrounded by friends and fans all day long. Dear reader, this is not the case. I am a lone wolf. A solo artist. A writer. But now that it’s possible to explore the wild west that is community servers and attend exclusive Realms parties, I’m going to have to get myself a social life.
Servers and Realms are coming to PlayStation
Play with friends and discover new worlds!
Servers and Realms open up different ways to play with your friends. When you play on a server, you can explore community-run worlds. This gives you access to unique content created by your fellow Minecrafters, whom you can also play with! Servers are full of competitive game modes, builds, and mini-games so creative that only our incredible community could have dreamed them up. Make new friends that love Minecraft as much as you do, but remember that the chat has a filter and any misconduct can be reported in-game, so be kind. We all need to do our part to keep our world safe, whether it’s digital or not.
Realms also allow you to play with other people, but in this case you send out personalized invitations. Play with your friends in your very own world, no matter where you happen to be in the real one. Turn it into your personal playground that has no respect for borders, time zones, and the laws of physics. If you subscribe to Realms Plus, you can play with nine friends and get access to over 100 pieces of content. You can also play on a regular one, which allows you to create a private world for you and a friend. It doesn’t matter what console or platform your friend is playing on, you can still hang out in the same place. Remember that your Realm is always available, whether or not you’re online. That means that whoever you invite to it will always be able to play on it, even if you’re not logged in.
What are you still doing here? Shouldn’t you be off galavanting with your friends? All you have to do is look up the “Servers” tab in the main Minecraft menu or subscribe to Realms and then send out your invites! Keep in mind that in order to access any online multiplayer features, you need a Playstation Plus subscription.
For those of you who are already playing Minecraft on a PS4, these new features were made available in the latest update. If you want even more information, check out the Realms Plus FAQ, the Server FAQ, and the PS4 FAQ. Now if you’ll excuse me I’m off to find the FAQ FAQ, the one that explains how I can make some Friends And ‘Quantainces. Hopefully all I need is more clever wordplay that requires no explanation at all.
