With the start of a new year comes the buying of new calendars, rappers updating the numbers to shout out at the end of songs, and people picking out annual aspirations to go with the occasion. Previously, I dabbled in making New Year’s demands, but since no prior year has complied yet, I’m settling for making resolutions! Late on the (in this case, dropped) ball as always, I'll see if I can make these up as we go by looking at our latest release of Java Realms maps!
New on Realms: My New Years Resolution
Six maps of inspirations for aspirations!
Beauty may be in the eye of the beholder, but anyone can see that the eye on this map is evil! Stuck within these halls you have to use gravity devices, laser cannons, car batteries, and other typical labyrinth paraphernalia to try make your way out. Just watch out for that evil-eyed-enemy stalking you! Luckily, you can track when it’s nearby using the cool mini map and dart to another room to puzzle it up there instead. Inspired by this, my resolution is obvious – I'll aim to increase my intimidating presence tenfold, by asking my optometrist if I can get the Escape the Lost Halls special!
PARKOUR TOWN
by Hielke
I know, exercise is a very trite resolution to make. Every year it’s the same thing: people’s mini-game slots are occupied with strenuous PvP maps that require hefty feats of digital athleticism. Then comes the end of January and they’ve switched over to more casual, turn-based affairs that does little to accelerate one’s heart rate. Well, for once I’m joining in the crowd by launching up Parkour Town and will resolve to make it to the top of the course every day of 2024! Thankfully, there are lots of possible variations within my reps with the numerous routes to the top. I’ll no doubt beat my high score on every retry!
CLUTCH RUNNERS
by sodapoppet, & Rabnutt
*pant* Okay that was exhausting. I’ve only made it up the top twice and my spacebar key is already weary. I will take a note out of Clutch Runners’ playbook and resolve to make it easier for myself! This parkour minigame lets you place Wool blocks throughout the course to rest your fatigued digital feet and gives you a huge degree of customization in how to comfortably get yourself to the finish line. In 2024, remember to treat yourself, and not worry too much about other players making it to the finish line waaay before you!
