A Tasty ASMR Minecraft Meal

Anyone who's been on YouTube for a while will probably have seen the words ASMR and Mukbang come up a few times, and might be wondering what they are.

ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response, but it basically means getting a warm tingly feeling whenever you listen to soft noises. It's extremely popular on YouTube, because it's easy to put on an ASMR video while you work or relax, and have someone quietly whispering and making brushing sounds in your ears. Mukbang, on the other hand, comes from a Korean trend: Eating a whole bunch of food in front of a camera, which might sound strange, but really helps people who feel lonely or disconnected from social situations. Or sometimes, it's just because people like the sound of eating!

YouTuber Lina Tik makes a lot of ASMR Mukbang videos, combining the two trends and often putting silly spins on them, like the food being made of Play-Doh or Lego. So, of course, there's a Minecraft video, too, which shows Lina not only eating Minecraft food like pork chops and steak, but actually biting into an entire live (Minecraft) cow. And since Minecraft doesn't have actual cutlery, Lina uses a trident and a sword in place of a knife and fork. I have to say, I appreciate the attention to detail!

Finally, to finish off the questionable blocky meal, Lina makes a sandwich out of wheat, meat, and two plates instead of bread (which we don't recommend trying at home). And since that apparently isn't filling enough, Lina then takes apart a live chicken, roasts it, and consumes it whole, before spitting out the bones. Attention to detail is again key, since the screen shows the crumbs going everywhere, just like in Minecraft!

Even if Lina's Mukbang isn't quite real, it's definitely interesting to see what a Minecraft eating experience might actually be like. In the game, after all, you never get to have a sit-down meal – it's all about scoffing pumpkin pie in a cave, something probably no one has ever actually done in real life. Hmmm, maybe there's a gap in the Mukbang market for eating pies in caves...
