If there was ever a drop that lived up to its name, it’s Chaos Cubed. More so now, because two new features are entering testing – raising the potential for chaos exponentially. First, TNT can now be fed to sulfur cubes! And second, geysers will now pop up across the Overworld for you to stumble upon. Both features are out now in Java snapshot and coming very soon to Bedrock beta & preview. Let’s dig in a bit, shall we?
Let’s dial up the chaos in testing
Feed TNT to sulfur cubes and experiment with geysers
Great news for you! Not so great news for sulfur cubes. You can now take a TNT block and feed it to a sulfur cube. Why? To see what happens, of course. Before you have to ask, yes, you can ignite the block once it’s inside the sulfur cube. No, you can’t extinguish it if you’ve changed your mind. This is who you are now. Embrace it.
Geysers
Now here’s a feature with a lower chance of injury! Not by much, though. Geysers are vertical bursts of sulfurous water. They're formed when a magma block generates (or someone, not naming names, places one) beneath a potent sulfur block that's submerged under 1 to 4 blocks of water. Then – BAM! Exploding water! They’re quite strong, so either watch your step or make sure you’re prepared for flight when stepping on one!
You can also use geysers as a striking landscaping feature or for whatever imaginative contraptions you can dream of! Just know if you post them online, I WILL be shamelessly copying them. Mwahaha!
How can I test these features?
You can test these features by enabling snapshots for Minecraft: Java Edition, or by enabling previews/beta* for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition. To install a snapshot, open up the Minecraft Launcher and enable snapshots in the "Installations" tab. To turn on an experiment in preview/beta for Minecraft: Bedrock Edition follow these instructions.
Send us your feedback!
These features are all still in development, which means that they might change as we work on them. So then why have we released them into testing? Because we want your feedback! Send us your feedback and report bugs at bugs.mojang.com!
