    If there's one thing that is clear, it's that Minecraft players are tough as diamond armor, sharp as a skeleton's arrow, and persistent as the zombie that has been trying to knock down my front door for the past five nights. I should probably stop writing blog posts and get that iron door installed...

    There’s simply nothing you can’t handle – no matter what challenge we may throw at you. You have explored the depths of the oceans in Update Aquatic, defended villages against overwhelming raids in the Village & Pillage Update, and heck – even managed to dodge angry swarms in the Buzzy Bees update! Clearly, you're just too tough for the Overworld.

    So how about a different world? A world that doesn't only put your skills to the test, but is launching today on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, Windows 10, and more on the Bedrock version, and Windows, Mac OS, and Linux on the Java version.

    Welcome to the Nether Update.

    The Nether Update brings the heat to an already fiery dimension with new biomes, mobs, and blocks. Discover Netherite, a powerful new material that makes diamond look like cobblestone. Beware the Piglins as you either trade blows or strike a deal. Avoid the hideous Hoglins, or hunt them for a snouty snack. Explore the Nether Wastes, search the Soulsand Valleys, traverse the Basalt Deltas, or venture into the Crimson and Warped Forests. But don’t forget to craft a respawn anchor. You know, just in case. It’s not like you’re going to get knocked into lava, or have a heated argument when bartering with a Piglin. Not at aaall… *breaks into evil, maniacal laughter*

    Getting ready for the Nether

    To celebrate the launch of the Nether Update, we’re also releasing a free Nether-themed adventure called “Way of the Nether” on our Bedrock-powered platforms. A dimensional rift has appeared in Poppy Isle and the mayor has gone missing. It falls on you to venture into the Nether, figure out what happened, and save the mayor! To get it, simply visit Minecraft Marketplace, find “Way of the Nether”, and click “Get this item”.

    Access to the free map requires the latest version of Minecraft Bedrock platform base-game with access to Minecraft Marketplace.
