Minecraft is much the same, as anyone who has ever stumbled into the shadowy depths of a dark forest will be able to tell you. One minute, you're happily strolling past pale-trunked birches without a worry in the world - the next, you're surrounded by towering dark oaks and wondering where that arrow in your torso came from.
That's because dark forests are one of the more hostile overworld biomes. You see, their dense vegetation creates so much gloom that hostile mobs will frequently spawn even in the middle of a cloudless day, so you'll need to be constantly on your guard against hissing ne'er do wells.
But, those with the bravery to confront the dark will find unique rewards in the leafy depths – if they can just avoid tripping and falling on a big twisty root. So, grab your stoutest sword and your loudest strimmer, and join us as we delve into the dark forest.
