More Minecraft game drop features

Our first Minecraft game drop of 2025 is edging closer, and you know what that means – more features going into testing! Strewn like confetti across biomes, your next expedition might entail meeting two moo-some cow variants, spotting dancing firefly particles glimmering in the dark, hearing howling wind and other ambient desert sounds, or picking up a lush new plant block: the bush. On top of that, crunchy leaf litter and decorative wildflowers, which are already in Java snapshot, are now available in testing for Bedrock beta/preview too!

Free up that inventory of yours (but remember to pack some wheat!), and let’s set out into the Overworld to check out these newcomers.

Two new cow variants

Two moo-some cow variants are joining the herd! I tried to get an interview with an original cow to see if they felt camaraderie or perhaps if they were worried about more cows moo-ving in on their territory? Their only response was “moo”, which I'm told means “speak to my agent”. Until we get hold of them, let’s turn our attention to the cold cow and the warm cow instead! 

Coated in fluffy fur, our cold cow brings cozy with them wherever they go – which is lucky, since it’s picked the snow-swept chilly biomes as its home. Our auburn warm cow can instead be found kicking up dust in the sandy biomes.

Like the original cow, these bovine variants are big fans of wheat and won’t take interviews at this time. As revenge Instead, I can tell you that they are a great source for leather, milk, and beef – cowabunga!

Firefly bush

If you share my fear of the dark, I'll hold your hand as I say this: staying up past dusk will be a must going forward. In fact, you’ll be so hypnotized by the new firefly bush, you’ll forget about all the hostile mobs sneaking up behind you! Eh, anyways. This new plant block spawns dancing firefly particles that – listen to this – glow in the dark. As if that wasn’t enough, you can bury the firefly bush below other blocks to make them sparkle! Trek to swamps and bodies of water (during the day, obviously) to retrieve the firefly bush, and then you can use bone meal to grow more in the safety of your own home.
